1874 – Innovation: The Grain Elevator
Frank H. Peavey creates “The Peavey Company” based in Minneapolis MN. Soon after, Frank invented the grain elevator we still see used today. Privately owning and operating the majority of grain elevators in the world, the company went public in 1973 and became ConAgra Inc. 16% of the worlds wheat milling capacity is owned by ConAgra. Today, the only outdoor event center, park, and fountain venue in the heart of downtown Minneapolis the “Peavey Plaza” stands to commemorate Frank Peavey.
