1934 – Innovation: Baby (Zane) on toilet paper
Bill and Harold Peavey (Brothers) start “Peavey Paper Mills Inc.” in Ladysmith WI. Converting the mill business from newsprint to selling toilet paper, they put the photo of 11 month old baby Zane Peavey on every roll of their “White Sail” brand toilet tissue. Peavey Mills became the third largest paper company in the world. Competitor Charmin (Procter & Gamble) copied the baby idea in 1957 which remains on their brand today.
