1951 - Innovation: Zip-Loc Bags
Lynn Peavey, hangs the shingle “The Lynn Peavey Co.” After working with Uncles Bill and Harold in the paper business, Lynn becomes the first to market a self enclosable plastic bag to industry. The “Gripr-Top” bag was first sold to pharmacies to hold prescription drugs. Flexi-Grip Inc. aka “Mini-Grip”manufactured the new bags which soon caught the eye of Dow Chemical Company. Dow created the name Zip-Loc and took the bags into the consumer market.
